Assuming he reads these blogs or one of them (how else could he come up with his conjecture), I think FW Mirror Columnist Bob Roegner, in his May 8th, 2015 column, thought I might be switching position numbers (which I won't be since my campaign finances wouldn't allow it anyway), because I have been slightly surprised that Commissioner Koppang might have an unopposed contest for an "open" seat, which is usually unheard of in politics, but the filing period deadline is still a week away, and I would be surprised if he didn't draw an opponent at all. For all I know, I might even support Commissioner Koppang for Council, depending on if he gets an opponent or not, or who it turns out to be, and how the campaign draws out.
By the way, I don't know why Roegner insists on using my first name in his column, since I have been using my middle name for politics since '06, and it has generally been my de facto first name all of my life, but as long as he chooses to do so, I wish he would stop shortening it to nickname form, which is something I rarely do myself and have never written it that way in a public format.
As for the aligning of candidates for positions, it could end up being a waste of city money for an "open" seat to have an unopposed candidate if it leaves an unneeded primary for a different seat which the city must pay for, but all candidates have free will to run in whatever position they want, of course.
For the record, I am the first challenger to announce for Position 1, not to mention the first official candidate for that position to file with the Public Disclosure Commission.

Moreover, what in the world is Roegner talking about when he suggests that I should take his imagined election scenario (Mark vrs. Mark) seriously? If I did switch, which I probably won't, why wouldn't I? Why wouldn't I take any election seriously? As if I consume all this time and energy for politics, including this blog, just so I can have the pleasure of being second fiddle and out on the sidelines. Give me a break.

Regarding my so-called Democratic ties that Roegner mentioned, whatever remains of them, they were pretty much all left in Alaska, where I was once the two-time Democratic nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives, but that has been 13 years in passing. I am now with a new party, the Revived Citizens Party. As most voters know, however, the Council is officially non-partisan.
